Job Description

The Northern Arizona College Resource Center (NACRC) is committed to helping high school students prepare for success after graduation and supporting them as they begin their journey into Arizona's workforce. In this position, the coordinator will support students by providing a range of services designed to guide students towards a strategic and dynamic approach to their career development and to ensure a positive transition from high school to further education or work. The Coordinator for the Setup Youth for Success (SYS) program will work with students in the northern Arizona area, connecting them to a multitude of resources, workshops, and professional skill-building opportunities, helping to ensure students are achieving career goals. The SYS initiative, funded by the Arizona Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act, is a three-year grant aimed at serving 11th and 12th graders in Yavapai, Coconino, Apache, and Navajo counties.

We are looking for an individual to join the NACRC to provide career education and enhance job market opportunities for northern Arizona high school students. We seek a professional committed to growing with the team during this exciting time.

Classroom instruction and advising - 35%

• Facilitate workshops and activities for classrooms of 11th and 12th-grade students.
• Assist students with their Education and Career Plan (ECAP) portfolios, resumes, career advice, and technical assistance for LinkedIn profiles and job applications, as well as helping research any post-secondary program or institution selection.
• Assist with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, scholarships, and college applications.

Employer Engagement and Relationship Management - 20%

• Collaborate with school staff, employers, and other university partners, including the NAU Career Development Office, to cultivate a network of career development professionals to support programming efforts through recruiting and referrals (including career fairs), industry guest speakers, rotary clubs, non-profit agencies, and local government offices to connect students to part-time and full-time job opportunities and internship summer projects.
• Collaborate with colleagues in the schools and communities to ensure that opportunities, such as resume and cover letter training and mock interviews, are provided to students to help enhance their job market outcomes.
• Build relationships with employers to learn about industry trends, recruiting timelines and processes, and career paths, along with needed student preparation, including degree or certification requirements.
• Represent the NACRC as a senior-level point of contact.
• Manages medium to large-scale projects and programs.

Curriculum Creation and Review - 15%

• Independently create a curriculum to deliver career readiness in the Setup Youth for Success (SYS) program, including developing program activities, speakers, and job fairs to embed career preparation for youth participating in the program as directed by the grant.
• Focus on curricular review and development of the expansion of value-adding co-curricular activities, such as internships, relationship-building, or other experiential learning activities.
• Coordinate with local high schools to manage established milestones related to this work (e.g., event planning, employer engagement, tracking systems, reporting, etc).
• Designs informational materials related to career development tools, resources and workshops, etc.
• Promotes awareness of resources through online, digital and other technology platforms.

Supervision - 15%

• Hire and train student workers.
• Provide technical assistance and training to student worker staff.
• Manage student workers

Reporting and Analysis - 10%

• Create and collect surveys using Qualtrics for tracking data, and use other relevant programs, such as Salesforce, to analyze student participation in career development, experiential learning activities, and job placement.
• Create regular semester reports of student participation and summarize career development efforts and outcomes.
• Collect, analyze, and report data about career paths, career plans, internships, student LinkedIn accounts, industry/agency, experiential learning opportunities and outcomes, job placement, and feedback on internship and industry/agency-sponsored projects to evaluate student performance and industry partner satisfaction.

Other duties as assigned - 5%

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience as a program coordinator, teacher, counselor, or similar position.
• A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above educational requirements.

Driving Requirement

Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver's license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose. More information on the can be found on the NAU website.


Anticipated salary range is $49,761 - $51,500. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
