Essential Functions

Job Summary

To serve as a subject matter expert in the field of application packaging and application delivery utilizing VMware Horizons suite of applications with tiered permissions in a client-server environment. Under limited supervision, provide the technical skills necessary to analyze business and computer management problems, and to recommend modifications of existing system designs, or the development of new system designs, to maximize the efficient use of existing data processing equipment.

Core Responsibilities

• Provides information technology systems support for server and client applications, virtual server support, diagnosing performance problems, and providing solutions. Understand the root cause of service interruptions and provide solutions or workarounds as required.
• Serves as administration of virtual server, virtual network, and enterprise storage infrastructure.
• Analyzes, diagnoses, maintains, upgrades, migrates, and troubleshoots assigned system areas of vSphere, NSX, Horizons, View, Active Directory, AppVols packaging and delivery, User Experience Manager, Desktop Imaging, Group Policy, instant clones, and GPU enabled desktops.
• Utilizes enterprise security best practices to ensure infrastructure security user and data integrity.
• Provides instructional documentation and technical customer service to faculty, staff, and students.
• Provides continual support and research of new software and technologies.
• Supports the University's computer systems hardware and software for UTS-supported labs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• At the department's discretion, technical training and/or experience may be substituted for a degree on a year-for-year basis.
• Four (4) years of experience working in a tiered client-server delivery model.
• Knowledge and understanding of applications like VMware or Citrix end-user computing delivery.
• Intermediate knowledge of Windows and Linux Desktop and Server administration.
• Understanding of ITIL practices.
• Understanding of Networking, application packaging, group policy, and active directory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications from Citrix, VMware, or Microsoft relating to System Administration or Service Delivery.
• Five (5) years of experience working in a tiered client-server delivery model.

This position primarily works remotely in Texas but may work on campus on an infrequent basis (approximately four days or less per month).
