Department

The Department of Accounting in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) consists of 17 tenured/tenure-track faculty members. Faculty members are actively engaged in research and support the existing doctoral, master, and undergraduate programs within the college. Position Summary

The Department of Accounting at the Alvarez College of Business at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is accepting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor.

It is expected this position will support offering new opportunities to Accounting students. The ideal candidate will have a record that demonstrates excellent teaching experience in auditing and general accounting classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The position will also help cover other accounting courses as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: (1) Ph.D. in accounting (candidates nearing completion of their Ph.D. are eligible to apply if the requirements for the Ph.D. degree are expected to be completed prior to the commencement of the appointment). (2) Specialization in auditing (archival and/or experimental). (3) Strong evidence of scholarly research (i.e., a portfolio of research in leading accounting journals) or quality research potential.

Preferred Qualifications: (1) Certified Public Accountant. (2) Practical experience in auditing. (3) Ability to teach auditing courses (undergraduate and graduate).

Tenure is contingent upon Board of Regents approval. Candidates who have not completed their doctoral dissertation (ABDs) will be considered.

Salary and the supporting start-up package are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. UTSA offers an attractive package of benefits, including medical and dental coverage plus a choice of participation in the Teacher Retirement System or an Optional Retirement System.
