Salary Range: Up to $77,500 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours: up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions
Job Summary
Function: To provide advanced skills in the design and execution of scientific research projects and to publish and publicize the results.
Scope:Responsible for coordinating research projects supported by internal and external funding, including evaluation, long-term planning, design, implementation, performance, analysis, and interpretation of results.
This is a grant funded position and is contingent upon availability of funds
Core Responsibilities
• Laboratory leadership and supervision in Schanze Research Lab.
• Organizing and managing instrumentation in the laser laboratory with class 4 ultrafast lasers.
• Use and management of time-resolved confocal microscopy system.
• Lead and point of contact for lab safety and EHS for laser lab facility.
• Researching and purchase of laboratory instrumentation and maintenance.
• Creating and conducting experiments using ultrafast time-resolved spectroscopy and time-resolved microscopy.
• Processing and analyzing results and data.
• Teaching, demonstrating to, or supervising students and training and supervising other members of staff.
• Communicating results to the scientific community via published papers.
• Collaborating with industry/academia to apply the results of research and develop new techniques, products, or practices.
• Attend and present ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences.
• Peer reviews of written publications and presentations.
• Professional development activities as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Master's degree in an area of expertise from an accredited institution.
• Three (3) years of independent research experience applicable to the specific program or project.
• Demonstrated independent decision-making and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Ph.D. in an area of expertise from an accredited institution.
• Similar experience in academic research.

Working Conditions
Working Environment:
• Usual office conditions and laboratory conditions.
• Requires use of class 4 lasers.
• Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.
• Occasional after-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.
Physical Demands:
• Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
• Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
