Hourly Pay Rate: 16.50 - 17.35

Essential Functions: 

The Business Accounting Technician provides exceptional customer service to students, staff, faculty, and the public. They must be able to resolve student and non-student accounts in a judicious manner that complies with Board Policy. Must be familiar with college billing, refund policies, and FERPA confidentiality regulations. Must be able to research questions and provide answers to various inquiries. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Provides general administrative and clerical support including opening and sorting mail, data entry, mailing, scanning, faxing, copying, and answering Business Office phones.
• Records payments and charges to online and traditional student accounts including room and board, parking, tuition, and fees.
• Investigates problems with student accounts and works with necessary staff to resolve them.
• Balances cashier drawer and prepares check bank deposit.
• Provides technical assistance to students and staff regarding the assessment of tuition and fees, setting up payment plans, refund policies, and other inquiries.
• Records fines and delinquent payments; indicates on student records any restrictions due to unpaid tuition, fees, or fines.
• Files office PDF copies of checks, requisitions, invoices, and purchase orders on a weekly basis.
• Assists with other accounts receivable duties.
• Maintains confidentiality of all financial data.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Travel Requirements: 

Travel may be required to other sites as needed. 

Environment: 

Responsibilities are performed in an office setting with frequent interruptions and changes in the workflow/volume at various locations. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet/moderate. 

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in accounting or business-related field required. A working knowledge of basic computer skills and the ability to operate standard office equipment. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. One year of accounting experience.
