POSITION: DEMONSTRATION SPECIALIST - LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST
LOCATION: A. HARRY MOORE SCHOOL
JOB DESCRIPTION: Experienced Library Media Specialist to join our team at the A. Harry Moore Laboratory School. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing our school library and media resources, promoting literacy and the love of reading, and collaborating with teachers and administrators to enhance the curriculum with a variety of media resources. This individual will also play a key role in the integration and implementation of educational technology to support student learning and growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain an engaging, organized, and up-to-date library collection that supports the curriculum and students' interests.
- Collaborate with teachers to plan and implement lessons that incorporate library resources and foster information literacy skills.
- Provide guidance to students and staff on accessing, evaluating, and utilizing print and digital resources.
- Manage the library budget, including the selection and acquisition of new materials, and oversee the maintenance of library equipment and facilities.
- Plan and organize school programs, events, and activities that promote student achievement.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students.
- Stay informed of current trends and best practices in the field of special education and educational technology.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive and engaging curriculum that meets the diverse needs of our student population.
- Collaborate with administrators and teachers to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies for enhancing curriculum effectiveness.
- Conduct research on current educational trends and best practices to inform curriculum development and revisions.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum through data analysis and stakeholder feedback.
- Develop and facilitate professional development opportunities for teachers to support the effective implementation of the curriculum.
- Ensure that the curriculum aligns with state and national education standards and guidelines.
- Develop and maintain a database of curriculum resources and materials for teachers to utilize in their instruction.
- Collaborate with external partners, such as universities or educational organizations, to enhance curriculum offerings and promote innovation.
- Utilizing data analysis and the ability to use data to drive curriculum decisions.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve and expand the curriculum to meet the evolving needs of our students.
In the realm of Educational Technology, the Library Media Specialist will:
Assist teachers in effectively incorporating educational technology tools and resources into their instruction.
- Collaborate with the technology team to ensure seamless integration of library and technology resources.
- Provide training and support to students and staff on the use of educational technology tools and platforms.
- Develop and maintain an inventory of digital resources and educational technology tools that support the curriculum.
- Promote digital citizenship and responsible use of technology among students.
- Stay informed of emerging trends and best practices in the field of educational technology and actively seek opportunities for professional growth.
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and support staff to effectively implement DLM assessments within the school or district.
- Provide training and support to educators on DLM assessment administration, data interpretation, and instructional planning based on assessment results.
- Coordinate and oversee the administration of DLM assessments, ensuring adherence to state guidelines and timelines.
- Analyze and interpret DLM assessment data to monitor student progress and guide instructional decision-making.
- Collaborate with Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams to ensure students' assessment accommodations are appropriately addressed and implemented.
- Serve as a liaison between the school or district and state-level DLM representatives to stay informed of updates and policy changes.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of DLM assessment data and reports.
- Provide ongoing communication and support to parents and guardians regarding DLM assessments and their child's progress.
Perform Professional Development series for the community at large

- Assist teachers with IEP development and Lesson Planning into the curriculum.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop information literacy lessons.
- Ensure that the library collection supports the curriculum across all subject areas.
- Provide guidance on incorporating technology and digital resources into the curriculum.
Teacher Mentor:
- Model effective teaching and classroom management strategies and provide guidance to teachers on incorporating library resources into their instruction.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement new ideas and techniques for promoting literacy and research skills.
- Offer professional development opportunities for teachers and the community to enhance their knowledge and skills related to information literacy and technology integration.
EDUCATION: Master's degree in Library Science or related field of Educational Technology.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have Special Education Experience
- Applied Behavior Analysis experience
- Previous experience as a Library Media Specialist, preferably in a K-12 setting.
- Strong knowledge of current trends and technologies in library science and education.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
