The position reports directly to the Dean, School of Science, Math, and Engineering and will teach 15 load hours per semester of Physics lecture and lab classes and perform other teaching related duties.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • The position reports directly to the Dean of the School of Science, Math, and Engineering. The instructor will teach 15 load hours per semester of Survey of Physics, Algebra-based and Calculus-based introductory physics courses with their associated labs. 

    Responsibilities include developing and revising instructional materials using the Canvas LMS; holding a minimum of 5 office hours per week; maintaining and reporting student grades; assisting in recommending and orienting part-time faculty; engaging in professional development; organizing and maintaining program curricula; and serving on college councils and committees. 

    Day and evening classes can be expected. Instruction will primarily be face-to-face with instruction at the Main Campus and at satellite centers.

     

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in physics (or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in physics content) is required.

 

  • The successful candidate will value diversity; have experience working with Native American, Latinx, and other adult/minority students; and have a strong commitment to the community college philosophy. 

 

  • Access to home internet, a personal computer, and telephone is required.
