Description

A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) is seeking a full-time exempt Student Achievement Specialist on the Mesa, Arizona campus. The Student Achievement Success Specialist is responsible for the student support and delivery of SOMA-specific student services, academic advising support, and career advising to all ATSU-SOMA students.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

• Support the 4-year academic support and advising program for ATSU-SOMA students, from pre-matriculation through graduation.

• Support the 4-year career counseling and advising program for ATSU-SOMA students, from pre-matriculation through graduation.

• Track and provide support to students requiring additional academic assistance, while ensuring the implementation of appropriate resources and services to enhance their chances of success at ATSU-SOMA.

• Counsel students needing improvement in academic or professional performance.

• Participate in the development and delivery of DEI-based support and curriculum for ATSU-SOMA students, faculty, and staff.

• Support the resources developed by the Student Achievement Success Team including, but not limited to: the ATSU SOMAGo app, SAT Website, ProgressIQ for student support and advising, Advisor Handbook, and Board preparation materials.

• Participating in the production of the MSPE for graduating students, orientation, and PDSA.

• Participating in Professional Development on campus and through national conferences as applicable to the work of the SAST.

• Other duties as assigned by the Director, Student Achievement Team.

 

Requirements

 

• Masters Degree in Student Services, Education, Counseling or Related Field.

• 1-2 years prior experience.

• The successful applicant will have demonstrated success in promoting a culturally rich environment that values and appreciates diversity.

• The applicant should have a common understanding of bias, what it means to be culturally proficient, and demonstrate success at mitigating differences.

• The applicant should have familiarity with the principles and practice of osteopathic medicine.

• Organization skills.

• Collaborative mindset.

• Professional behavior.

• Compassion, patience, and approachability.
