As an advisor, you'll help students navigate financial aid, billing questions, and tuition payment options-ensuring they feel supported every step. You'll also need the ability to handle sensitive and complex situations with professionalism, empathy, and discretion, guiding students and families through challenging financial discussions while maintaining compliance with university and regulatory policies.

Job Description:
What You'll Do
As an Undergraduate Student Financial Services Advisor, you'll be a key resource for students and families, helping them understand and manage their financial aid and tuition payments. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing Financial Guidance
• Advising Traditional Undergraduate (TUG) students of the University regarding tuition payment options and financial aid information through in-person/virtual one-on-one counseling, telephone, and email communication.
• Educate students about financial aid options, scholarships, and loan programs.
• Experience in collections or proactive outreach is a plus. Advisors will engage with students to address outstanding balances, provide clear guidance on payment options, and support them in resolving financial obligations.
Ensuring Accuracy & Compliance
• Become an expert in understanding student billing-helping students and families navigate their charges, payments, and financial aid applications with clarity and confidence.
• Review and verify student financial aid documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies, providing guidance on regulations and requirements.
Problem-Solving & Student Advocacy
• Assist students in resolving account issues and navigating payment options.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in student accounts, proactively addressing concerns to prevent registration or financial hold delays.
• Collaborate with university departments to ensure seamless financial processes.
Engaging in Outreach & Events
• Participate in new student Welcome Week, financial aid workshops, and special events.
What We're Looking For

• Detail-Oriented & Organized - Ensures financial aid processing, student billing, and record-keeping accuracy.
• Tech-Savvy - Comfortable using Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and (ideally) financial aid systems like Workday and Transact.
• A Team Player - Willing to collaborate, share ideas, and support colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated & Accountable - Able to work independently while providing regular updates to department leaders and teammates, ensuring progress and transparency.

• Knowledge and experience working with a diverse population is preferred
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in a customer service, advising, or financial services role.
• Proficiency with Google Suites (Docs, Sheets, Gmail) and Microsoft Office (Excel).

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in university financial aid or student services.
• Familiarity with Workday and Transact.
• Experience in collections, account resolution, or proactive outreach related to outstanding balances.
• Bilingual (Spanish or another language) is a plus!
Physical Requirements:
• The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time.
• Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
• Vision to read documents, e-mail and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone.
• Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day.
