EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
Santa Rosa Junior College is currently accepting applications on a continuous basis to establish a pool for associate faculty assignments. Associate assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed.
Compensation/Benefits
Assignments are made on a part-time, hourly basis. A part-time faculty assignment may not exceed a total of 67% of an annual full-time assignment.

• Salary placement is based on academic background, vocational experience, and teaching experience (depending on discipline) and as documented in application materials. • Compensation for assigned classes is paid over the duration of the assignment.

Sick Leave Accrual: Associate faculty accrue sick leave on a pro-rated basis. Additional information can be found in Article 18 of the AFA Contract.
Retirement: SRJC offers CalSTRS Defined Benefit, CalSTRS Cash Balance and Social Security as Associate Faculty retirement options. Eligibility for each plan is determined based on prior membership status with CalSTRS.
Essential Functions
• Provide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, which may include evening, weekend, online or hybrid and/or off-campus assignments.
• Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
• Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise.
• Associate faculty focus primarily on providing instruction and/or student services.
• Associate faculty are typically not required to participate in District or department service such as committee work, evaluations, student learning outcomes assessment, and hiring committees, but may be asked to perform these services for additional compensation.

SELECTION PROCESS:
If the department has an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, they will review applications. If the department does not have an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, applications remain in the queue for consideration until the need arises, or for up to one year. If selected, candidates will be invited to an interview with a Screening and Interviewing Committee. Selected candidates who are not given an immediate assignment will remain in the pool for four years.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Engineering & Applied Technology department is home to the Engineering Transfer Program and multiple Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs including: Civil Engineering Technology, Computer Modeling & Animation, Mechatronics, Geospatial Technology, Interior Design, Solar Photovoltaics, Surveying Technology, Water Utility Operations, Wastewater Treatment Operations, Architecture, Construction Management, and Computer-Aided Drafting. The Engineering Transfer Program offers the standard spectrum of freshman and sophomore engineering classes needed to transfer as a junior to a 4-year college or university so students may complete their bachelor's degree in the engineering discipline of their choice. CTE programs typically offer various certificates for completion of specific courses to assist students seeking employment within local industries.

REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree AND two years of professional experience directly related to faculty member's teaching assignment; OR an Associate's degree AND six years of professional experience directly related to faculty member's teaching assignment; OR the equivalent; OR a valid California Community College Instructor's Credential in Decorative Arts and Related Technologies.
Sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Preferred:
• Teaching experience related to SRJC's interior design course offerings
• Professional experience related to SRJC's interior design course offerings
• Professional certificate in interior design or professional license in architecture
• Advanced degree in interior design or architecture
• Experience with software related to SRJC's interior design course offerings
• Membership and participation in professional industry associations within related discipline
• Demonstrated commitment to valuing and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
Software being taught in the interior design classes may include: AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, SketchUp, Rhino3D, Enscape3D, and Lumion.
