Salary Range: $58,000 - $65,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours: up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions
Job Summary
To work for the Academy for Teacher Excellence Research Center to engage in highly skilled educational support for undergraduate teacher candidates seeking certification in bilingual education and their mentor/host teachers, in addition to engaging in related research activities.
Responsible for planning and implementing educational activities and events to achieve the goals and performance objectives of the Signature Teacher Residency certification pathway.
This is a grant-funded position. This position may be extended based on availability of funds and departmental need.
Core Responsibilities
• Assists with outreach efforts to recruit and select bilingual paraprofessionals.
• Develops, and implements professional learning curricula, and instructional resources.
• Provides mentoring and coaching support to bilingual paraprofessionals/teacher candidates at UTSA and/or at the school districts' campuses assigned.
• Provides guidance and technical support for the academic, emotional well-being, and professional development of bilingual teacher candidates.
• Co-facilitates weekly seminars for bilingual teacher residents.
• Plans, develops, and delivers host/mentor teacher professional learning sessions.
• Serves as a mentor coach to teacher residents' host/mentor teachers.
• Collaborates in the development, planning, and implementation of project activities and events.
• Serves as school-community-university liaison by collaborating with community organizations, families, and educators to foster comprehensive educational environments and strengthen partnerships.
• Monitors program implementation, ensuring alignment with state educator standards and institutional policies.
• Supports ongoing research to assess the effectiveness of project activities and make data-driven adjustments to enhance bilingual teacher candidates' achievement.
• Answers inquiries and assists with special situations.
• Supports the review of program objectives and makes appropriate recommendations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Master's degree in interdisciplinary studies, Curriculum and Instruction, Bilingual Education, or equivalent degree.
• Two years of experience teaching in bilingual education classrooms.
• Two years of experience working at an institution of higher education teaching and/or providing mentoring and coaching support to teacher candidates and/or practicing teachers.
• Must be capable of handling difficult human situations with tact and diplomacy.
• Must be able to handle emergency and security situations relating to the public.
• Speak, read, and write Spanish.
• Experience developing and presenting professional learning activities.
• Must be friendly and flexible in dealing with school children and the public.
• Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with professional personnel, volunteers, supervisors, and the public is vital.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree and a Bilingual Education Teaching Certification.
• Four years of experience teaching in bilingual education classrooms.
• Two years of experience providing research assistance at an institution of higher education.
• Experience working at a higher education institution supporting teacher candidates, conducting research, and managing data.
• Valid driver's license.
• State of Texas Teacher certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of computers.

Working Conditions
• Some weekend and evening work.
• Will require some work away from the office working at school districts or community centers.
Physical Demands:
• Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
• Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasional.
This position will require working both remotely in Texas and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
