Salary Range: Up to $68,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours: up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions
Job Summary
Provide leadership and direction for the Student Union Events area, including strategic planning, assessment, and management Student Union (SU) events.
Responsible for overseeing the SU Events team in the development and implementation of student events, joint sponsorships, and external client events.
Core Responsibilities
• Oversees and facilitates the scheduling and usage of all events in the Student Union and other assigned areas of the UTSA campus.
• Interacts with faculty, staff and off-campus customers to plan and execute successful programs, meetings, special events, conferences, joint sponsorships and weddings in the SU.
• Educates, interprets and implements policies and procedures for expressive activity and campus regulations, advises internal and external clients before and during events.
• Assist in the identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of improvements to Student Union operation and service that will appeal to a campus population and enhance students' experiences.
• Maintains the highest quality services offered by SU Events to all clients and ensures needs are met.
• Creates opportunities to market Student Union to potential clients through an active marketing plan in conjunction with marketing and communications staff.
• Advises the Executive Director of necessary policy adjustments and revisions. Interprets and enforces the policies and procedures related to the SU and UTSA campus events and promotes campus-wide usage of R25/25Live, reservation software.
• Actively participates in strategic planning and assessments to enhance service outcomes.
• Provides leadership and supervision to the Student Union Events staff to include hiring, training, scheduling, reviewing, counseling and discipline. Facilitates collaborative interaction within staff.
• Effectively manage assigned budgets for appropriate supplies and equipment replacement for the SU Events area in conjunction with Student Affairs Business Service Center.
• Lead and facilitate strategic event and program planning committees, ensuring effective collaboration and communication among members. (Student Affairs Programmers, Event Partners, etc)
• Provide assistance to the Student Union in its support of UTSA's mission through student development initiatives.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Master Degree
• Five years of experience in the supervision and management of events planning and delivery.
• Four years professional experience working in Student Affairs or other student success functional area.
• Three years of direct experience working with college students.
• Three years of supervision experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master in Higher Education, Student Personnel Administration or a related field.
• Experience working in a metropolitan university.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrated expertise in event planning, training, assessment, and organizational execution.
• Events management experience at a conference center or multiple site venue.
• Student-centered approach to programming and service.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Anthology Engaged and Adobe Photoshop.
• Proficiency with social media and content creation on multiple platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
• Proficiency with clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing.
• Demonstrated independent decision-making and problem-solving ability.

Working Conditions

• Exerts up to 30 lbs. of force occasionally.
This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
