The El Camino Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty positions beginning with the 2025 fall semester to teach the following courses:

 

DART 101 - Concept Design: Principles & Tools

DART 102 - Digital Illustration: Principles & Tools

DART 104 -Digital Modeling: Principles & Tools

DART 131 - 3D Characters & Props

DART 140 - 3D Character Animation & Rigging

DART 211 - Visual Development & Environments

DART 231 - 3D Procedural Modeling & FX

DART 155 - 3D Game Animation & Interaction

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

Faculty job responsibilities include the development/review of lesson plans and assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services.

 

Faculty assignments may include morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend hours. Dual enrollment, distance education, on-line or hybrid with required distance education certification assignments are voluntary. For faculty who are interested in teaching online or hybrid courses, completion of El Camino College's distance education certification process is required or submission of a waiver with evidence of prior certification to develop and teach quality online courses.

 

Faculty may participate in initiatives set forth by the College that support students to achieve their educational goals through collaborations with employers, advisory committees, industry/trade groups, universities, high schools, or other partnerships with related instructional disciplines.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Any Bachelor degree or higher and two years of professional experience; OR

 

Any Associate degree and six years of professional experience

 

The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement must complete the Request for Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR

 

Valid California community college credential in appropriate subject (per California Education Code 87355 issued prior to July 1, 2990); AND

 

Sensitivity to and understanding of a broad range of disabilities and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and experience in at least one of the following disciplines:

• 3D modeling and Animation, Procedural Modeling

• 2D Animation

• Concept Design and Visual Development

• 2D and 3D Game Art and Animation

Experience with Industry Standard Digital Tools:

Blender, Maya, Houdini

• ToonBoom, Harmony, Storyboard Pro

• Adobe CC

• Unity and/or Unreal

Desire to teach one or more of the following:

Procedural Modeling

• 3D Character Animation & Rigging

• 2D Character Animation

• Game Art, Animation & Interaction

• Visual Development for Environments

• Concept and Character Design

• Experience working in Concept and Character Design, Visual Development, Storyboarding, 2D Animation, 3D Animation, Game Animation, and related entertainment roles is preferred.

• Previous college level teaching experience preferred but not required.

SALARY:

Part-time faculty are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate is $105.27- $134.39 (lecture), $79.79 - $101.83 (lab), per hour depending on education and experience.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a part-time, temporary position for the fall semester, beginning August 23, 2025. Assignments may include off-site locations. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), and transcripts. Candidates selected for employment must agree to be fingerprinted, submit a Certificate of Completion of the Tuberculosis Risk Assessment and/or Examination, provide proof of eligibility for employment in the United States, and present a valid Social Security Card upon hire.
