POSITION: NON-TENURE TRACK POSITION, LECTURER- 12 MONTHS
JOB SUMMARY: The Department of World Languages and Cultures and LATI Center invites applications for a full-time NTTP faculty Lecturer appointment commencing September 1, 2025 at New Jersey City University (NJCU) William J. Maxwell College of Arts & Sciences. This is a 12- month position carrying a minimum of 30 credits hours and a maximum of 33 credit hours teaching load.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will be required to teach Spanish courses at all levels, including language skills, linguistics, grammar, literature, and specialized topics such as translation, language methodology, and sociolinguistics. Additionally, the successful candidate will serve as Director of the NJCU Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies (LATI). The candidate will be expected to develop and deliver engaging, student-focused courses that improve language proficiency and cultural understanding, both in-person and online.
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should provide evidence of excellence in teaching and should have superior organizational skills.
EDUCATION: Candidates should have a Master’s degree or higher in Spanish, Hispanic Studies, Applied Linguistics, or a related field, with a PhD preferred.
EXPERIENCE: As LATI Center Director, the successful candidate will promote faculty research, encourage student engagement with Latin American and Caribbean cultures, and organize cultural events, workshops, and lectures to foster multicultural awareness. The successful candidate will also collaborate with local schools and community organizations to build partnerships that support student learning and professional development opportunities. Through these efforts, the LATI Center aims to be a leading regional resource, supporting interdisciplinary research and fostering dialogue on socio-political and cultural issues impacting Latin America, the Caribbean, and Latinx communities in the U.S.
