Essential Functions
Job Summary
The Assistant Basketball Coach will assist the Head Basketball Coach in the daily management of the Basketball Program. The major work activities for the position will be coordinating all the aspects of recruiting. This includes organizing database, recruiting visits, depth charts, off-campus and on-campus recruiting, and any coordination with compliance involving recruiting. Also, will assist in on-court coaching, game planning of practice and games and skill training of student-athletes. Will assist in mentoring current student athletes.
Core Responsibilities
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and ensure compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
• Manage the daily operations of the recruiting process.
• Assist Head Coach and Associate Coach on the floor coaching.
• Work with Athletics Director in matters of public relations and promotions.
• Actively participate in fundraising initiatives to support the Athletics department.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any field of study.
• Three years of experience as a basketball student-athlete or coach.
• This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree from an accredited institution in any field of study.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Specific knowledge in the sport of women's basketball and knowledge and compliance with all NCAA, State of Texas, UTSA and American Conference rules and regulations.
• Demonstrated excellent organizational, written, and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to exercise independent judgement, discretion, and flexibility.
• Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office, standard office machines and all equipment associated with the sport of Basketball.
• Knowledge basketball related equipment.

Working Environment
• Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, games, or other business-related events.
• Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
• Occasional after hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.
Physical Demands
• Physical activity in the sport of women's basketball.
• Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
