Salary Range: Up to $40,000- $42,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

 

Hours: Fixed-term tenure track, 4 courses per semester, exempt.

Essential Functions

 

Job Duties

 

The School of Music at the University of Texas at San Antonio invites applicants for a full-time, fixed-term track position in wind/percussion music education. Responsibilities include teaching music education courses and participating in area meetings, committees, and other assigned service activities. Teaching assignments may include brass methods, music pedagogy, music curriculum/instruction, technology for music educators, and a graduate-level seminar in music education.

 

Required Qualifications

 

• Completed doctorate in music education or ABD.

• Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in K-12 schools.

• Demonstrated record of excellence teaching music education courses at the university level, including the subjects in which classes will be assigned.

• This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Specialized pedagogical content knowledge for teaching wind and percussion instruments in K-12 schools.

• Background in “sound before sign” pedagogies for instrumental music learning.

• Experience teaching graduate-level music education classes.

• Teaching experience, goals, and approaches that meet the needs of students at varying levels of musical proficiency.
