Description

Duties & Responsibilities

 

The Director of Programs, AZ position has administrative and clinical oversight of all clinical education for KCOM OMS III and OMS IV medical students. This position will oversee decision-making which maximizes the clinical experience for regional students as a whole. This includes oversight of educational curriculum (as identified by the College), meeting COCA standards and ensuring sufficient quality and capacity for robust clinical rotations. This position provides administrative oversight for the entire regional team including all DSMEs and administrative staff. This position performs as a manager, educator, evaluator and administrator of the region.

 

• Assure clinical rotation schedules are arranged for third and fourth year KCOM students within the region.

• Enforce the academic policies of the University.

• Provide routine mentoring and professional advice to KCOM medical students.

• Identify a regional group of preceptors willing to make a reoccurring academic commitment to clinical experiences.

• Maintain and establish new partnerships with clinical health systems and practitioners within the region. Evaluate, establish and arrange for clinical rotations within the region.

• Approve student absences from the clinical experience.

• Facilitate exam or other assessment remediation processes.

• Provide recommendations related to budget within the region.

• Provide annual regional summary to main campus.

• Oversee DSMEs in the region and develop educational and experiential initiatives in conjunction with them.

• Delegate responsibilities for these elements as needed and within reason.

 

Requirements

Education & Experience

 

• D.O. or M.D. degree.

• Ability to oversee student functions including the application of Osteopathic Principles and Practice. Leadership.

• Communications skills.

• Medical education experience helpful.

• Two to three year experience.

• The individual in this position will work closely with the region coordinator and students to ensure completion of all student requirements to achieve graduation.

• Additional duties as assigned to facilitate learning, educational curriculum and assessment toward student success.
