EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
Santa Rosa Junior College is currently accepting applications on a continuous basis to establish a pool for associate faculty assignments. Associate assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed. The Sonoma County Junior College District does not offer ‘remote only' assignments.
Compensation/Benefits
Assignments are made on a part-time, hourly basis. A part-time faculty assignment may not exceed a total of 67% of an annual full-time assignment.

• Salary placement is based on academic background, vocational experience, and teaching experience (depending on discipline) and as documented in application materials. • Compensation for assigned classes is paid over the duration of the assignment.

Sick Leave Accrual: Associate faculty accrue sick leave on a pro-rated basis. Additional information can be found in Article 18 of the AFA Contract.
Retirement: SRJC offers CalSTRS Defined Benefit, CalSTRS Cash Balance and Social Security as Associate Faculty retirement options. Eligibility for each plan is determined based on prior membership status with CalSTRS.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, which may include evening, weekend, online or hybrid and/or off-campus assignments.
• Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
• Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise.
• Associate faculty focus primarily on providing instruction and/or student services.
• Associate faculty are typically not required to participate in District or department service such as committee work, evaluations, student learning outcomes assessment, and hiring committees, but may be asked to perform these services for additional compensation.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Santa Rosa Junior College Music Department is currently composed of five full-time and over 20 associate faculty members who are deeply devoted to the art of music and to its pedagogy. We offer Associate in Arts degrees in Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, and Jazz Studies, as well as an Associate Degree and Vocational Certificate in Digital Audio. We also provide the core curriculum for students seeking transfer to the CSU and/or UC as Music majors or minors along with General Education survey courses and other opportunities for enrichment. Our performing groups include our Symphonic Band, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Orchestra, Jazz Bands, Jazz Combos, and other ensembles that concertize both on-campus and out in the community on a regular basis. Our outstanding Applied Music program provides opportunities for individual instruction and recital performance for our Music majors. The Department regularly hosts performances and master classes by renowned guest artists, and we are closely allied with other musical groups in the community including the Santa Rosa Symphony, the Santa Rosa Symphonic Chorus, and various music teacher organizations.

The Music Department of Santa Rosa Junior College is seeking a pool of qualified instructors with the demonstrated ability to teach individual (applied) lessons on any of the following instruments:
• Bassoon;
• Cello;
• Clarinet;
• Double bass (classical and/or jazz);
• Flute;
• French horn,
• Guitar (classical and/or jazz);
• Low brass;
• Oboe;
• Piano (classical and/or jazz);
• Percussion (drums and/or mallets);
• Saxophone;
• Trombone;
• Trumpet;
• Viola;
• Violin; or
• Voice.
Candidates must have scheduling flexibility to teach weekly lessons on an as-needed basis, with fluctuating schedules based on student demand.

Required:
Master's in music
OR Bachelor's in music AND Master's in humanities
OR the equivalent (please fill out an Equivalency form)
