Essential Functions

Job Description

The Department of Statistics and Data Science (SDSD) in the College of AI, Cyber, and Computing at The University of Texas at San Antonio seeks for an Assistant Professor of Instruction to:

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in data science and data analytics within the SDSD department using knowledge of machine learning, data science and data analytics.
• Collaborate with statistics and data science faculty on degree program initiatives related to data science and applied data science.
• Revise and develop course syllabi for AI, data science, and machine learning courses in the data science certificates and Master of Science in Data Analytics programs.
• Develop curricular materials for data science and data analytics programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Collaborate with colleagues to identify and address student and program needs.
• Support the SDSD department through service activities (e.g., recruitment efforts, committee participation).
Required Qualifications

• A master's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field.
• This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.

Preferred Qualification

• A minimum of 1 year of experience teaching data science at the undergraduate or graduate levels.
• Ph.D. in computer science, data science, or a related field.
• Experience in overseeing graduate students' academic progress in data science.
• Previous teaching experience, ideally at an institution of higher education.
• Ongoing contributions to the field of data science and data analytics research.
