Salary Range: Up to $40,000- $42,000, depending on starting rank.

 

Hours: up to 40 hours per week, fixed-term track, exempt.

Job Duties

 

The School of Music at the University of Texas at San Antonio seeks qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor of Instruction or Assistant Professor of Practice (Fixed-Term Track, full-time) - Collaborative Piano. Primary responsibilities involve collaborating with faculty, guest artists, and select students, accompanying choral and/or Lyric Theatre rehearsals, auditions and select other performances, teaching related coursework in the keyboard area, and coordinating accompanying services for the School of Music. Establish and maintain a strong profile as a collaborative pianist and positive presence in the university and wider community, and the region. Maintain a successful record of teaching and service as defined by the needs of the school. This position calls for a dynamic individual who is collegial, encouraging, and committed to a culture of continuous growth.

 

Required Qualifications

 

• A master's degree in collaborative piano or piano performance with extensive collaborative performance experience.

• A record of excellence in collaborative performances across a range of instrumental and vocal partnerships, as well as chamber music and large ensemble work.

• Qualified candidates will possess strong communication and organizational skills.

• This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• An earned doctorate in collaborative piano or piano performance, college-level teaching experience, and/or vocal coaching experience.

• To be considered for Assistant Professor of Instruction, the candidate must hold the terminal degree.
