The Maxwell Library at Bridgewater State University seeks an experienced librarian to oversee all e-resources and related systems. The incumbent will provide leadership and expertise in acquiring and integrating electronic resources into the library’s collections. In addition, the successful candidate will work closely with liaison librarians, as well as systems and collection development librarians to ensure that the library’s digital collections and related policies and services are up to date, well managed, and positioned to support the University’s overarching goals of student success, and excellence in teaching, learning, and research.

The Electronic Resources Librarian reports directly to the Dean of the Library. The incumbent will serve as a library liaison in selected disciplines. Participation in professional organizations, service in library and university governance, and appropriate professional development activities are expected and required for tenure. The salary range is $75,000 to $85,000, dependent on experience and education.

Please note: This position is eligible for hybrid remote/on-campus work options.

The Electronic Resources Librarian will:

• Provide leadership for management of the library’s electronic resources, which includes managing the selection, acquisition, cataloging/preservation, and assessment of resources.
• Collaborate with the Dean of the Library to manage the annual e-resources materials budget and information resources expenditures.
• Work with publishers and vendors to negotiate and maintain electronic resource licenses and contracts, manage database subscriptions, purchase orders, and electronic licensing agreements; resolve related problems as needed.
• Work with library colleagues to set e-resources policies, workflows, and procedures.
• Collaborate with other librarians to provide expert advice to the library and campus on online information resources.
• Evaluate and recommend e-resources, demonstrations or trial subscriptions for librarian and faculty evaluation.
• Provide training on e-resources for librarians and staff; create LibGuides and research aids in other formats for assigned liaison areas.
• Collaborate with the Systems and Technology Librarian to update knowledgebases, proxies, reference linking systems, and discovery interfaces as necessary (EBSCO, EZProxy, etc.).
• Collaborate with the Library Administrative Assistant to ensure that vendor invoices are paid in a timely manner.
• Collect statistics on resource usage in all formats. Collaborate with librarians and library administration to conduct ongoing assessment of collections.
• Serve as a liaison to one or more departments/programs.
• Actively engage in professional development activities as required for promotion and tenure.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited program.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience pertaining to the management of e-resources.
• Knowledge of current issues in the e-resources lifecycle, including acquiring, licensing, and managing access to electronic resources.
• Awareness of current developments and trends in electronic resources, with the proven ability to apply such knowledge to local practices.
• Understanding of library metadata standards (MARC21, Dublin Core, RDA, etc.).
• Demonstrated proficiency with automated library systems, usage tools, and vendor management tools.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and team building skills.
• Commitment to diversity and social justice.
