Job Summary:
Assist PLNU students in obtaining appropriate credentials and/or graduate degrees. Act as liaison between California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and PLNU.
Pay Range: $22.65 - $24.45
Actual salary offered is determined by the candidate's experience, education, skills, and other factors, including internal equity and university funding resources.

Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Analyze and process student transcripts, State exam scores, State and out-of-state credential documents to assure completeness, accuracy and validity; prepare and maintain related logs and student files; assure compliance with University academic program requirements and State credential requirements.
• Assist with the implementation and maintenance of electronic files and records.
• Provide technical information related to the California teaching/services credentials to out-of-state certified personnel; refer phone inquiries to appropriate adviser or appropriate State, County of District agency.
• Review student file for readiness to apply for credential; prepare, revise and mail application packets; respond to student inquiries as needed; submit information or forms to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
• Prepare and maintain a variety of records, logs and reports related to credential applications; prepare statistics related to number and type of credentials processed.
• Assist program students with renewal of emergency long term credential program and completion of appropriate course units in prescribed time on the credential; advise students regarding program status and related matters; make referrals to program administrator as needed.
• Assist basic and graduate program students pursue an extension of their credential through appeals; provide evaluation of program status statements or CTC appeal codes, information and forms.
• Assist advisers with out-of-state certified personnel and University program students with compliance to established requirements, policies, or procedures; meet with advisers to discuss related matters.
• Provide advice, assistance and current information to candidates and professors on matters pertaining to credential regulations.
• Meet with credential candidates and provide ongoing information regarding state and program requirements.
• Monitor compliance with CTC regulations throughout the students' program.
• Evaluate degree candidacy and communicate with Records regarding degree posting.
• Submit credential recommendations to California Commission on Teacher Credentialing upon verification of completion of requirements.
• Act as liaison between CTC and PLNU.
• Collaborate with credential analysts at other regional centers regarding current information, policy implementation, and best practices.
• Act as liaison between district personnel and PLNU.
• Serve on local educational committees as requested by Director.
• Serve on PLNU ad hoc committees as appropriate.
• Develop new program policies and procedures in collaboration with faculty and staff.
• Participate in program assessment and review as appropriate.
• Maintain membership in appropriate professional organizations (e.g., Credential Counselors & Analysts of California); attend appropriate conferences/training.
• Provide support to School of Education by presenting credentialing and career information via classroom presentations, seminars and written materials.
• Answer telephone and visitor inquiries.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Ability to:

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
• Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of the University.
• Computer proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management; especially with MS Office Suite.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years office administrative experience are preferred. Experience in reviewing, analyzing, evaluating and processing credential applications is desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Sitting for periods greater than one hour.
• Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
• Vision to read documents, e-mail and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone.
• Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day.
