Essential Functions:
The Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management serve as the Senior Student Affairs Officer for the College and provides strategic leadership, supervision, and coordination for all student affairs functions across the College. This role ensures that the student experience—from recruitment through completion—is supported through cohesive policies, data-informed practices, and collaborative engagement aligned with the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of Coastal Bend College.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive executive oversight of all Student Affairs and Enrollment Management operations, including student conduct, residence life, student engagement, admissions, financial aid, athletics, QEP- Cougar Care, testing, and related student support services.
- Lead the strategic direction, coordination, and integration of enrollment management and student success initiatives to improve recruitment, retention, completion outcomes, and transfer.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive enrollment management and student success plan that aligns with institutional goals and advances student access, persistence, and completion.
- Oversee basic needs delivery, advising, testing, residence life, and student engagement programs that support academic and personal development.
- Lead the design and implementation of structured academic, transfer, and career pathways for entering students to ensure clear progression from entry to completion.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of program effectiveness, analyze data and outcomes, and initiate continuous improvements aligned with strategic priorities.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and best practices through research, staff development, and implementation of evidence-based initiatives.
- Collaborate with instructional leaders to strengthen course scheduling, advising, and academic progression systems that promote student success.
- Provide visible leadership in student recruitment, retention, and community engagement activities that enhance the College’s visibility and impact.
- Exercise executive oversight of Admissions and Financial Aid to ensure efficient, compliant, and student-focused operations that promote access and affordability.
- Establish and monitor departmental goals, objectives, and performance measures consistent with institutional strategic priorities.
- Ensure institutional compliance with all applicable federal, state, and accrediting agency requirements, including but not limited to those related to financial aid administration, student records, consumer information disclosures, Texas Education Code mandates, Constitution Day, Title IX, Clery Act, FERPA, ADA/Section 504, VAWA, and other public notification and reporting obligations affecting student services and enrollment operations.
- Direct continuous improvement in admissions and financial aid processes, including application, verification, and awarding procedures.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to the College’s athletic programs and staff, ensuring alignment with institutional mission and values.
- Maintain compliance with NJCAA and institutional regulations, upholding high academic, ethical, and performance standards for student-athletes.
- Promote fiscal accountability, student-athlete success, and community engagement within athletics programs.
- Champion a student-centered culture that values engagement, and service excellence across all divisions.
- Represent the College at internal and external events to strengthen partnerships, promote institutional initiatives, and support student success.
- Ensure full compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Other Duties:
- Will participate in college responsibilities such as Institutional Effectiveness Committee, Task Force, etc.
- Other Duties as assigned by the College President.
Travel Requirements:
Travel to off-site locations for meetings and conferences. Travel to other CBC sites.
Environment:
Work is generally performed in an office setting with frequent interruptions and changes in the workflow/volume. May require some outdoor work for CBC events.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree required; Doctorate preferred in higher education administration, student affairs, or related field.
- Minimum of seven years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs or enrollment management.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, budgeting, personnel management, and compliance oversight.
- Strong understanding of student development theory, Title IX, athletics administration, and financial aid regulations.
- Commitment to fostering a student-centered environment that advances student success.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation reporting requirements; student services systems; enrollment management strategies; and national initiatives that enhance student success.
- Strong understanding of student learning and development principles, including pathway models, advising frameworks, and holistic support strategies.
- Skilled in data interpretation, program evaluation, budgeting, personnel management, and strategic planning.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse constituencies.
- Addresses complex, strategic-level issues requiring sound judgment and innovation in alignment with institutional mission and governing board policies.
- Makes independent decisions with discretion and foresight, developing business or technical rationales that guide resource allocation and long- or short-term institutional priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Enrollment Management CRMs, database systems, and enterprise software platforms; demonstrates integrity and security in all digital operations.
