Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a part-time, grant-funded position. College business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.

 

Pay - $35/hr. up to 29 hours per week.

 

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Project Director (PD) / Assistant Vice President of Student Success, the Coordinator of Military & Veteran Student Success will facilitate the Military/Veterans recruitment, retention and programming initiatives. The Coordinator will outreach to and support military/veterans at Ramapo, partner community colleges, and in the surrounding community. The Coordinator will work closely with the Assistant Director of Transfer and Veterans.

The Coordinator will implement, coordinate, measure, analyze and assess Project progress in coordination with stakeholders. The Coordinator will use College systems and data to ensure the Project enhances enrollment, student success, retention, and persistence to graduation for the ROTC/Military/Veteran student population.

 

Examples of Duties

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

 

• Coordinate the Transfer Center and Veterans Lounge in consultation with the Assistant Director of Transfer and Veterans and Project Director (PD) for students at Ramapo College.

• Develop, coordinate and implement initiatives to recruit and support military/veteran students during their college experience.

• Partner with identified Community Colleges to recruit military-affiliated students.

• Synchronize cross-campus student support team to support military and veteran students and their spouses.

• Monitor the rates of enrollment, persistence, and completion of ROTC, military-affiliated, and veteran students and their spouses.

• Coordinate visits from military/veteran agencies/officials and representatives to campus.

• Measure, analyze and assess Project progress in coordination with stakeholders.

• Use College systems and data to ensure the Project enhances student success, retention, and persistence to graduation for the ROTC, military and veteran student population.

• Coordinate/deliver training as needed.

• Work with the Assistant Director of Transfer and Veterans to identify transfer credit of military courses and previous life experiences for academic credit.

• Administer and monitor allocated budget resources.

• Participate on committees as determined by the supervisor.

• Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

• Two years of professional experience in an institution of higher education, education, or another field that is directly related to the functions of the position or equivalency as determined by the appointing authority.

• Preferred experience working with military and veteran students and their families.

• Prior military-affiliated service.

• Demonstrated experience in project and program management.

• Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organizational skills.

• Demonstrated ability to interact with various audiences with patience and sensitivity.

• Effective computer skills.
