The El Camino Community College District is now accepting applications for the anticipated part-time faculty Counseling positions for the 2026-2027 year starting summer or fall 2026 semester, beginning July 2026.

El Camino College is seeking individuals to provide counseling services to a diverse student population including new and re-entering students; those pursuing career and transfer goals, and academic progress/probation for program specific and general student population. The assignments may be in a myriad of areas counseling services are assigned including, but not limited to, CalWORKS, EOPS/CARE, First Year Experience, Honors Transfer Program, International Student, Dual-Enrollment/Early College/Career Pathways, Noncredit/ESL/Adult Secondary Education, Special Resource Center (DSPS), TRiO (SSS), Veterans, meta major counseling areas or an equity based program(such as undocumented/mixed status immigrant students (Dreamer Resource Center), current/former Foster Youth Student Success (NextUp & Guardian Scholars), formerly-incarcerated/system impacted (FIRST), Student Equity and Achievement, etc.)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, counseling psychology, clinical psychology; guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or family and child counseling; or EOPS position requires additional qualifications as listed below; OR

 

The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR

 

Valid California community college instructor credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355).

 

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR:

Extended Opportunity Programs and Services

 

Two years of occupational experience relating to ethnic minorities or persons challenged by language, social or economic disadvantages, AND minimum of nine (9) semester units of college course work predominantly relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social, or economic disadvantages, OR

 

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR:

Special Resource Center - Disabled Students and Program Services (DSPS)

Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling; OR

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Recent California Community College counseling experience.

Recent experience counseling specialized populations such as first year and first-generation students, formerly incarcerated/system impacted, current and former foster youth, undocumented and Dreamers, high school or adult student populations, and other educationally or socio economically disadvantaged students.

Experience with case management in educational or community service settings.

SALARY:

Part-time faculty are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate is 66.07 - $79.61 per hour depending on education and experience.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Part-time, hourly, on-call positions, on as-needed basis and according to assigned program qualification requirements, such as counseling within meta majors, CalWORKS, EOPS/CARE, First Year Experience, Dual-Enrollment/Early College/Career Pathways, Noncredit/ESL/Adult Secondary Education, Special Resource Center (DSPS), International Student, Honors Transfer Program, TRiO (SSS), Veterans, Student Equity and Achievement programs, and embedded counseling for the 2026-2027 year starting summer or fall 2026 semester, onboarding beginning June 2026.
