Essential Functions:

The Student Engagement Navigator provides leadership in the development and implementation of a comprehensive student engagement program that enhances student belonging, supports persistence, and contributes to CBC’s Drive to 55 goals. The coordinator manages student organizations, leadership initiatives, major events, and co-curricular learning opportunities, ensuring inclusivity and access for diverse student populations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement CBC’s student engagement curriculum, including evening, weekend, and residence-life–adjacent programs.
  • Advise, train, and support student organizations; oversee registration, travel, risk management, and budgets for student groups.
  • Coordinate campus-wide events, traditions, and student leadership development programs to include the sites and online students.
  • Partner with Residence Life to create living-learning and community-building experiences.
  • Lead assessment and reporting of student engagement outcomes; track metrics aligned to CCSSE benchmarks and Drive to 55 goals.
  • Promote student activities through marketing, social media, and event platforms.
  • Maintain compliance with FERPA, Clery Act, and institutional policies.
  • Supervise and mentor student workers and interns assigned to Student Activities.
  • Serve as a resource for engaging all students, ensuring participation opportunities for commuter, part-time, dual credit, adult learners, online, and first-generation students.
  • Participate in the professional staff on-call duty rotation for responding to lock-outs, incidents and crisis in both the apartments and Benton Hall.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Residence Life and Student Engagement.
  • Supervise Resident Advisors and Student Activities Staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education, or related field.

  • Minimum of 1-year professional experience in student activities, leadership, residence life, or related field. A Student Affairs in Higher Education practicum or internship from an accredited university can be substituted for 1-year of professional experience.
  • Experience in event planning, student activities advising, and program assessment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, higher education CRMs, and social media platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or related discipline.

  • Experience working in community colleges or with first-generation, commuter, dual credit, and/or part-time students.
  • Familiarity with CCSSE/CCCSE engagement frameworks.
Supplemental Information
Other Duties:
  • Will participate in Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) and in compliance with SACSCOC.
  • Will participate in college responsibilities such as the Institutional Effectiveness Committee, Task Force,etc.
Travel Requirements:

Some travel between sites may be necessary, as well as travel to conferences for training purposes.

Environment:

This position operates in a fast-paced, student-centered environment with frequent evening and weekend activities. CBC carts may be used for event support (training required).
