The Associate Vice President for Information Technology Services (AVP of ITS) reports to the Vice President of University Services and is responsible for planning, leadership, and management of the university's technology operations. This role involves developing and implementing IT strategies that support the university's mission and address the technological needs across various departments. The AVP of ITS must work on-site as remote work is not allowed.
The salary range for this position is $133,591 to $176,290, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications. The job is full-time.
The AVP of ITS has several responsibilities, including providing leadership for the Information Technology Services department, ensuring cost-effective systems and procedures, and making decisions to enhance access to technology while minimizing risks. The position also involves maintaining a comprehensive IT strategic plan, delivering high availability of systems, improving customer service, and recommending policies related to IT management and security.
The AVP will also lead the university's strategic use of artificial intelligence, oversee core university systems, represent ITS at institutional committees, and engage with a diverse population. In project management, the AVP will guide IT initiatives to align with university goals, ensuring quality assurance and stakeholder engagement.
Staff management responsibilities include fostering a welcoming environment, selecting and training IT staff, and developing the ITS leadership team. The AVP will emphasize continuity of service and support for university information systems.
Financial oversight includes preparing and managing the IT budget, predicting spending patterns, and advising on new project implications. The AVP will also oversee vendor governance, including selecting and managing vendor relationships and reviewing agreements.
In terms of information security, the AVP will manage university-wide resources, ensuring compliance with regulatory and strategic priorities. This includes overseeing risk assessments and the cybersecurity awareness program.
Qualifications for the position include a Master's degree in a related field or significant IT experience, along with visionary leadership and project management skills. Candidates should have experience in implementing technology systems in a higher education setting, especially Enterprise Resource Planning and Student Information Systems. Skills in fiscal management and ability to communicate effectively are essential, along with a commitment to the university's spiritual mission.
The position demands physical capabilities, including sitting or standing for extended periods and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Travel to various campus sites may also be required.
