HOURS/DAYS WORKED
This is a full-time, AFT position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the "NL" category of employment (non-fixed work week). An AFT- NL professional staff member or librarian who is required to work beyond 35 hours shall be compensated through compensatory time off. Compensatory time shall be earned for hours worked beyond the normal work week, or on an employee's regular day off, if requested and approved by their supervisor.
Note: Position is remote for one year since hire date and will be reevaluated after that time period.
Compensation:
AFT - U24 - STEPS 1-2
$73,899.90 77 - $77,593.35
(Cost of Living Adjustment will be made to above salary range effective July 12, 2026)
Internal applicant's salary is based on union-negotiated contracts
JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of the Investigative Genetic Genealogy Center, the Director of the Investigative Genetic Genealogy Certificate Program is responsible for the delivery of the Investigative Genetic Genealogy Certificate Program, including curriculum development, case resolution outcomes for the program, enrollment, recruitment, student success, and satisfaction.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Develop, assess, and deliver the IGG Certificate Program
• Co-teach or teach, as assigned, cohorts of students enrolled in the IGG Certificate
• Program
• Oversee grading of IGG Certificate Program Students in collaboration with the IGG
• Certificate Program Assistants
• Measure and report on student satisfaction
• Manage (in consultation with Director) IGG Certificate Program program assistants and
• additional employees hired by the IGG Center as assigned
• Manage all subsidiary responsibilities related to administration of the IGG Certificate
• Program including liaison with the Office of the Registrar and Office of Student Accounts for student enrollment needs
• Assist with development and teaching of the IGG Bootcamp (including additional cohorts
• as they are developed)
• Provide substantive work on IGG Center casework as needed
• Collaborate with other members of the IGG Center to generate scholarly and popular
• work on IGG (including articles, books, documentaries, podcasts, etc.)
• Lead recruitment of students for all IGG Center program
• Frequent evenings required
• Frequent weekends required
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
Adult learning teaching, required
Significant experience and evidence of success/a proven track record of conducting IGG work, which has solved real-world cases of violent crime, re-examined wrongful convictions, and/or identified unidentified human remains is required.
Graduate of Ramapo College of New Jersey's IGG Certificate Program, preferred.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• ability to develop, assess, and update, as needed, remotely-delivered and in-person-delivered versions of a non-academic certificate program in investigative genetic genealogy (IGG)
• ability and drive to help launch and provide ongoing support to the Center for Investigative Genetic Genealogy at Ramapo College, which will make it a state-of-the-art facility for teaching and conducting IGG
• excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment
• connections with law enforcement agencies, medical examiner, and other IGG practitioners who can provide cases to the Center for Investigative Genetic Genealogy at Ramapo College is strongly preferred
• connections with media outlets including podcasts, magazines, television, etc. is strongly preferred
• experience with friend-raising or fundraising or connections with potential donors is strongly preferred
