Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, AFT position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the "NL" category of employment (non-fixed work week) An AFT- NL professional staff member or librarian who is required to work beyond 35 hours shall be compensated through compensatory time off. Compensatory time shall be earned for hours worked beyond the normal work week, or on an employee's regular day off, if requested and approved by their supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Production and Community Placements coordinates the School of Arts, Humanities, and Education's shared production resources and external community partnerships in support of academic programs, experiential learning, and public engagement. This position operates at the intersection of academic operations, space planning, and community engagement, connecting on-campus instructional and public programming with off-campus placements for Artists and Scholars in Residence.

Examples of Duties

DUTIES

Production Coordination and Operations

• Coordinate the planning, scheduling, and utilization of shared instructional, rehearsal, studio, exhibition, and performance spaces across the School.
• Oversee the effective use of technical resources and support personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality learning and performance environments.
• Support the planning and execution of performances, exhibitions, lectures, screenings, residencies, and other School-sponsored public programs.
• Work collaboratively with Events and Conferences and campus partners to align scheduling and operational needs.

Community Partnerships and Placements

• Collaborate with the Teacher Education Program to support school-based placements and partnership initiatives.
• Facilitate Artists and Scholars Residencies that integrate visiting practitioners into coursework and public programming.

Experiential Learning and Student Engagement

• Collaborate with faculty to integrate production experiences, residencies, and community-based learning opportunities into the curriculum.
• Support high-impact educational practices that promote inclusive and applied learning.
• Contribute to documentation, assessment, and reporting related to experiential learning and community engagement outcomes.

Collaboration and Administrative Support

• Work closely with the Dean, faculty conveners, professional staff, and campus partners to support School priorities and efficient operations.
• Assist with planning, budgeting, and reporting related to production support and community-engaged initiatives.
• Represent the School in community, regional, and professional contexts, as appropriate.
• Support the School's commitment to accessibility, equity, and inclusive participation in all programming and partnerships.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Minimum of three (3) years of related professional experience in production coordination, arts or humanities programming, community engagement, experiential learning, or a related field.
• Demonstrated organizational, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience working with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and access.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field.
• Experience in a higher education environment.
• Knowledge of arts production environments, academic scheduling, or community partnership development.
• Demonstrated commitment to liberal arts education and community-engaged learning.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May supervise student workers, graduate assistants, or part-time production staff, as assigned.
