Associate Vice President, Regional Higher Education Centers (FA092A)

ODU is searching for an individual who will provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the Regional Higher Education Centers (i.e., “ODU Virginia Beach”, “ODU Peninsula” and “ODU Tri-Cities”). Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, this individual will partner with the School of Continuing Education to develop innovative, entrepreneurial, and strategic initiatives designed to proactively respond to workforce development and training needs in the region. Specific duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with academic deans, department chairs, and AVP for the School of Continuing Education to respond to regional workforce needs for talent and skill development
  • Manage, direct, and coordinate business development projects
  • Build collaborative partnerships with related entities or companies in the region
  • Create solutions to business problems and work on pre-defined projects
  • Identify workforce development opportunities and lead the development of programs addressing those opportunities
  • Work closely with local businesses to ensure they are successful in using the services and programs offered by the School of Continuing Education
  • Work with academic deans to increase student enrollment
  • Utilize and other platforms to identify partnership opportunities
  • Use resources of the Regional Higher Education Centers to host regional and city-wide event
  • Manage staff and budget of the centers
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited university and at least 7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in higher education with increasing management responsibilities
  • Excellent project management, planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills as well as outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience in workforce development programming
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
